We have great news — Trout Steak is going to make our first studio record! And we need your help.Support Us
After five years together and hot off our win at the 2014 Telluride Bluegrass Festival band competition, we have decided to take the plunge and become full-time musicians! Past winners of the Telluride Band Competition include Nickel Creek, the Dixie Chicks, and Greensky Bluegrass, just to name a few, and being honored in the group presents us with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
We’re going to make a run at it, and we want to make a great record as we hit the road to start touring. We have two self-produced records to our name, but this time we are going big — recording at Mighty Fine Audio with master engineer Colin Bricker, the Infamous Stringdusters’ banjo player Chris Pandolfi coming on as producer, national publicity and distribution; the whole nine yards. This is our chance — and we are asking you, our fans, to help us and come along for the ride!
We feel so lucky to be in a band with our best friends and playing music we love. Will, Casey, and Travis were all summer camp counselors together in Michigan; Casey and Steve were college buddies from Minnesota; Bevin is our friend from the music scene here in Colorado. Our friendship is the glue that holds us together, and playing and decorating each others songs is what moves us ahead. We are so thankful to all of our fans here in Colorado and across the nation who have been with us every step of the way, and are so excited to bring you with us on this next leg of our journey.
There are many costs associated with seeing a project like this through to the end product. We’ve done some extensive research into each step of the process to create our budget. Our production costs come from nine main categories: studio costs, mixing, mastering, printing, art/video, producing, publicity (radio/print/online for album release and tours), distribution of the album to record stores across the country, and costs associated with using Kickstarter as our fundraising platform. Our manager Drew Gottlieb from RambleWest Productions is helping us keep expenses low and maximize the impact of your investment in us. We are really excited to have such a great team in place around us to make this Kickstarter campaign and album successful.
We are so thankful that you are interested in helping us make this next record. Please take your time and have a look around the site — we tried to make our sponsorship levels really fun and personal, to let you know how much we appreciate your support. Thanks again for everything. Trout Steak loves you!
